BOUBA NDJIDA NATIONAL PARK

We counted eight good hours of road in our 4x4 vehicle from Garoua to finally arrive at the camp of the largest national park of Cameroon: the Park of Bouba Njida. We traveled most of our trail on runways, crossing the seasonal waters (called "mayo"). With its 220,000 ha of land, the park is home to a variety of animal species: lions, elephants, and giraffes, 11 species of antelopes including the Derby Elk, the largest species of African antelope, hippotragues, Buffon's cobes, red-bubales, panthers, hyenas, potamochères and warthogs. There are also hippos, buffalos, more than 300 species of birds. Rhinoceroses appear to be extinct in Cameroon.

Nearby is the prehistoric site of Managna, where we can observe hundreds of traces of dinosaurs on one of the largest plates in the world.
